The 1915's design is cut into the coin, rather than expressed outwards, am i not correct? I'm no master of either grading, but i'm a whole whole lot better at the outward design.

Design does go in rather than out. Even so, could you take a wild guess?

i was pretty close to my original AU-50. Maybe 53 or 48 but who cares. Anything under AU-50 will go for around melt value. did you see my other post on your other Gold?

The first one looks funny....almost like a cast copy....the surface looks funny.....can you get a weight on it??

The 2en one looks like it might have been cleaned....anyway...I would say XF on it

speedy, on the first one, i think it's just the picture. i thought about that too for a while. On the second one speedy, what can i look for to determine wear?

I'll try to weigh. Took picture with a 500 watt halogen lamp from the top of the head, could that give it a funny look?

maybe some slight shadowing.. i don't know though, not much of a photographer myself. Isnt 500 watts pretty doggone bright?

Yea, but my scanner isn't bright enough to bring out the detail.

On the ones I look at the wear seems to come to the....eagles weings right up near the top....right at the neck...you can see the worn spot there on this one...
Next I would say the Indian's headdress....
BTW--I've haven't seen too many of these in hand...mosty in photos...

I would estimate the 1915 is XF40, maybe 45 detail wise - but I think the coin has been been cleaned and polished. Value is likely around $90-$100.

The 1878-S - I'm pretty sure it's a fake, at best it's an altered coin with an added mint mark. If it is gold - value would be bullion content depending on fineness.
