How to tell US mint proof container has not been swapped?

    Hi,

    I just bought an american silver eagle proof on eagle. The US mint box and certificate of authenticity is included. How do I know that the seller didn't swap the coin from the US mint for an uncirculated kind, and recapsulated it. Sorry if this has been discussed before. Thanks for your advice!:eek:

    The two coins are unmistakable, the proof will be very shiny in fields and frosty on raised areas, the uncirculated is pretty much a uniform frost look

    It's very easy to tell a difference between a proof and unc eagle. A proof will be very shiney and have a mirror effect.
