Hey everyone I've been searching through all sorts of different coin dealers looking for a new type/set to collect but i am finding them all to be rather dull and thats when i came across a site that also had world notes for sale and thought they looked quite nice and rather appealing. Now my question to you guys is how do you display your notes?

Where do you guys commonly go to buy them?

Is it unreasonable to think i can get a few different world notes for $5-$10 each in relatively good condition from dealers at some shows

Finally are there any good books on world paper money you could recommend to me so i can look for them the next time i'm at the library :smile

    thanks in advance:hug:

I have some in binders in pages that you can look at.

    Online, fleabay, at coin shows

No it isn't unreasonable. I have found some dealers have had notes in a $1 or higher discount bin, unfortunately most of these are heavly circulated. You should be able to find dealers that sell world notes, it depends on what you are looking for as to the cost of the note(s).

The books that I use for World Paper notes is Published by Krause Publications. They are:

Standard Catalog of World Paper Money - Specialized Edition - 10th Edition
Standard Catalog of World Paper Money - Modern Issues - 14th Edition
Standard Catalog of World Paper Money - General Issues - 11th Edition.

I believe the 14th Edition of the Modern Issues also comes with the book on DVD if you buy it new. You can find copies of these online thru Amazon for less that the publisher price. You just need to hunt around. Also doesn't hurt to have a few Amazon GC's also. :smile

    Hope this helps......

Lots and lots of questions :) thats good lol

i get 100% of all my world notes online. As much as folks hate it, i do use Ebay alot for world notes. There are also alot of other websites that sell them. My biggest problem with buying world notes online is the uneccesary mark up. Alot of sellers love to charge 1000% markup over face on common notes. I would suggest either buying the Krause books mentioned above or finding a library that has them. Once you have access to that info, you will know the values of most notes, and then will know if the note for sale online is reasonable or not.

I've had a mostly positive experience with eBay as far as world notes go. A lot of selection, decent quality, reasonable prices, and 99.9% of the sellers are friendly and honest. In my experience most brick-and-mortar coin stores stock very few world notes, if any at all. If you're looking for some of the more common ones eBay is probably your best bet to be honest. Most of my world note collection was bought on eBay and except for one exception I've had a great experience with all the dealers I've dealt with.

There's also quite a few online stores that sell world notes... looking around on Google should find you quite a few. www.banknotes.com is one of my favorites (has a lot of good banknote info as well); they have a large selection and prices are very reasonable.
