Just tried to take some pics of some of my coins w/ my sony digital camera. Not very good. How do I get good, clear shots?
Does your camera have a macro lens setting? If so turn it on, it is usually the flower looking icon. You can get the camera lens within 2 inches with this setting. You will have to adjust the coin and camera to get good lighting, I find it a pain to get a good clear angle.
THAT SUX Reuben. Ok not for you, but for me. I have a Sony CyberShot DSC-F717. The pics you post almost always look awsome. I wouldnt post any of the pics i took they come out blurry or fuzzy or dark or too bright. I can never seem to get close enough to get a good shot, without getting an inch or 2 away from the coin. I set the macro (flower) on, and i still cant get decent shots. :thumb: 's up to yoou!!!
I have a cheap tripod. But that takes care of the blurryness due to my moving. I still have the out of focus blurry. I use the auto-focus, but due to me being so close to the coin, it gets confused and is blurry. then i use manual focus and all the options that go with it. I need to get so close to see the coins details, that the camera is close to 1/2" from the coin, at that close range, no light hits the coin, if i zoom out (at macro mode or not) i cant see the details on the coin. My camera is at Sony, as part of the classaction lawsuit against them, getting the CCD chip replaced. But once i get it back, i will be trying the coin pic challange once again Ruben .. do you have a special lense you use? Whats the model of your camera?
Sony DSC-W7 with a Zeiss Lens 7.2 Megapixils 3x zoom Its old school at this point but I find it useful. Ruben
Well, the macro range of that camera (according to the specs) is 0.8-19.7 inches. It sounds as if you're too close (trying to shoot beyond the capabilites of the lens), which would explain why the autofocus "gets confused and is blurry."
