I have some silver coins and was wondering how to get some of the gunk thats on them off. Can i safely put these coins in vinigar and will that help clean them?

    Any advice will be appreciated.

    Thanks

You can try acetone, make sure its 100% though, not anything like fingernail polish remover.

Vinegar, probably not. And vinegar is not a good idea anyway.

Acetone may work on the '68 at 3 o'clock, but if that is toning acetone will do nothing. The '67, may work. Doubt it would do much to the other '68 because it looks like somebody already tried cleaning that one.

Only use these three household solvents on coins: acetone, water and xylene.

NEVER USE VINEGAR....olive oil or lemon juice or salt or any of the other loads of crap recommended on the internet.:headbang:

I should add, the only coin I'd be worried about is the 67 which has what looks like PVC residue on it. Acetone will take care of that. The other two look like normal toning....which is best left alone!
