Along with the rest of you, I enjoy participating in the discussions that take place on Cointalk. I learn something new everyday, and feel I can offer something of value to those of you who are new to this as well.

While an active participant in the regular discussions, I also occasionally list coins for sale. To date, it has been very infrequent, respectful of the single WTS listing per week limit. My success rate in selling coins on Cointalk has been very good, so I think I have a decent sense for what kinds of listings would be welcome.

With a goal of growing this business substantially, I'd like to get a sense for just how welcome more frequent listings would be on this site, even if up to one per day is allowed for supporters. I'd rather ask beforehand and find out what you want, rather than abusing the privilege, and apologizing later on.

I can't imagine one-a-day wouldn't seem too often to many of you . . . presently, that would be about 1/3 of all WTS postings, and I don't think I could even keep up with that rate, even if it seemed reasonable to all of you, which I don't think it would.

My goal with this post is to find out . . . what really does seem like a reasonable / tolerable frequency for WTS listings from the same seller? Daily, every 5 listings, every ten listings, every week . . . other?

Once a day if it falls of the 1st page would be appropriate. But this is coming from someone that very seldom looks at the for sale forum.

I personally will follow the link in ones sig line versus looking at the for sale forum. I wont do business with a person that doesn't participate in discussions once they reach their 10 post and all they want to use the forum for is advertising

Your answer was a little unclear to me . . .

Do you mean once a day, as long as only one listing is on the 1st page at any given time?

Basically, if its still on the 1st page there would be no reason to bump it back to the top if it falls off the first or second page I see no problems with a to the top post. Though as a quick look at the for sale page one is eight days worth of ads.

What about a permanent Ad on CT. I wonder how much that costs? Probably a lot :)

I am fine if you post every day. I always up to sweep g what's for sale from others. I wish there were more posts from others.

In my opinion, you're welcome to post as often as you like. I think you should work to find that sweet spot between posting and overposting as far as what gets you coins sold. The fact of the matter is, if you're selling the coins on here and people are buying them, then everyone benefits. If people are buying coins from you everyday, post them every day. I do think that might be a bit much, but that's more because I don't have a big budget and I don't enjoy selling my collection. I've yet to see a post from you that seemed to go against the spirit of the online forum. I say post away and find the sweet spot.

Here's a stupid question......how do you get into the WTS section?

  11. I like the way it's done at the PCGS forums. Once a day bump. But there is quite a lot of traffic on the BST section. For this forum, it could go days before the topic is off the first page. Which is why I don't think the current format of one per week is all that bad. JMO

I scan the recent topics/new posts and not specific forums. I worry that daily sales postings could potentially overwhelm the recent topics.

There isn't a limit on the number of items that can be listed each week, is there?

I guess I was thinking that when I add a new item, it would be a new post, and not an edit of an existing post. I'm not looking to bump existing post to the top again.

Does that change things for you?

Personally, I'd like to see the Buy/Sell/Trade/Auction listings in a separate column from the "Recent Topics". They take up space which bumps many discussion topics off the list.

I think about 3 times a week would be a comfortable medium. I personally check the For Sale forum almost daily and welcome more postings from good sellers/dealers.

I know Benjamin and Brian were posting frequently at one point and the rate they were going never seemed to overwhelm the whole board, so I dont have any issue with it at all.

My main concern would be unchanging listing being repeated. As long as the material rotates fairly regularly than I certainly dont have any issues.

Thanks Mike, but I still don't get anything. I used to be able to get to these types of posts in the past but nothing is showing up. Mods? Help!

I thought once a week was common practice. Keeps it from being spammed.

Unless I'm missing something (quite possible), if you're a reliable seller AND you want to sell coins, I think the listings should be unlimited. IMO, that's what the thread is for: buying and selling coins among trustworthy people.
