I believe the current bid is for $80 apiece not $800 It would be $800 if he won all 10 but he has been out bid on some of them already.

What in the world is he thinking?! First strikes are highly overrated anyway and I'm sure as heck not coughing up $80 a piece for them. Maybe if they were '96's. That guy needs to be doing this :headbang:. Maybe it will knock some sense into him, then again, probably not.

Even pcgs only has the reg strikes for 97 listed at $47 for MS69's, and we know their numbers can be a bit inflated. To each his own I guess.

I sent messages to all 3 of of the current $80 bidders to let them know the facts about the " hidden " Ducth auction that the snake ( seller ) was actually running. I heard back from 1 and he was pretty upset. I told him / her to contact the seller and try and void the bid or had it over to Ebay security and file a complaint about deceptive / fraudulent auctioning. That's about all I can do.

I agree that the bidders paid way too much, and the one you contacted probably didn't realize what a Dutch auction is, but after reviewing the listing, I would put 90% of the blame on the bidder, not the seller.

I don't understand the comment about "hidden", since the listing title include "DUTCH", and the description mentions the word in the first sentence, among other places. How more clearly could the seller have listed it? :headbang:

Sellers can't hold the hands of every potential bidder, and make them sign an affidavit that they have read the explanatory material EBay provides on Dutch auctions.

I must apologize for my earlier statement about the seller. I failed to see the word " Dutch" in the title , so I guess the buyers did also , at least 3 of them.

Then again, with listings like this...

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140023378564

-maybe some of these people thought they were getting a deal? I don't know, it just seemed like they were bidding on the whole lot, and not realizing it was per coin. I put it on the buyer as well though, as it's pretty clear when you make the bid that you have to choose the number you want to bid on and the price each, and then there's a confirmation page that lists the subtotal and you have to confirm. Of course, if you don't bother to read it...
