I am curious on your willing to pay for either IKE NGC and PCGS. I have 16 1976-P Type 1 that guarantee to be MS65 or better unless I miss something. This lot will be focus on resell. I am NGC member, but not PCGS and I would like to know how much would you pay for and why?

    PCGS/NGC MS65
    PCGS/NGC MS66
    PCGS/NGC MS66+
    PCGS/NGC MS67

I am not sure which one should I sent my IKE lot, PCGS or NGC?

Let you know that I did sold 1976-P Type 1 NGC MS65 with gold tone for $200 at eBay from few months ago.

  3. Be careful...PCGS is very strict on these and does not give out many gem (MS65) grades. I think you have a better shot at gem grades at NGC but these will not command as much of a premium at would PCGS. If you get a chance, post some pics of your coins. TC

I think most Ike collectors agree that PCGS is more consistent with Ike grading than NGC. Depends on how eye appealing the coin is for the grade, im not against paying full market value for a gorgeous coin but for average coins i start bidding somewhere at or below half of what PCGS says its worth.

NGC has some real dogs in ms65 holders- that is not the case with PCGS- this seems to be especially true of Ikes

NGC is very inconsistent with grading IKEs, i would try PCGS. seems like NGC is undergradeing moderns by at least a point nowadays.

With 22 MS66s and no 67s at PCGS,they would be worth a lot. Even if they're 'only' MS65 you're sitting on a gold mine - if they end up grading that high.

I would fall out of my seat if they all graded that high, you should post a pic of one or two of the best ones so we can see???

I didn't pick the best, but pick first three on front of order as in box. Here's three IKE coins. All of them is MS65. If you don't think so, you are welcome to point out. Remember strong luster give one point extra. :)

Ha, you think those are 65 or better quality? I'm sorry, but there's no way those coins grade above MS63. On smaller coins, luster is more important... on larger coins, both luster and the hits on the coin need to be taken into account. Here's a raw '78 I own, probably a shot 66 coin. Just to give you an idea of what they are looking for in gem coins...

So basically your asking who's opinion matters more, NGC or PCGS opinion? With that in mind, clearly it's paying for one slab over the other slab, not the coin itself. ;)

Fadetoblack: your coin can grade at MS67. Here's picture of MS7 from ikegroup...

What you're missing is that the year makes a difference when grading. In my opinion, it shouldn't, but it does. A 1972 vs 1978 can't be compared.

What I see with your coins is one MS-63 and two MS-64's. Again, it's JUST my opinion, but none of yours have a shot at 65.

    Hi Aslpride,

I apologize for being negative, but I have to say that I agree with what some others have said. The Ike;s you posted really don;t have a shot at NGC or PCGS.

I hate to image spam, but here are some from my collection (most in Irish2Ice's colleciton now), and I think yours really need to look at least as good as these. Even then, it can be an expensive gamble.
