the coins near perfect. it has that old coin color of brown but every bit of it is sharp brand new looking, no tiny scratches nothing. but..... when i first got the coin it was from a big pile and the owner thought it was a 1909reguler, but when i brought it home i studied it with a magnfying glass and found VDB on it, but the problem is that with all the sharpness of the coin the VDB is worn to the nub. like it was struck to lightly or something. bluebook value says its between 4 and 5 bucks.] what do you think?
Unfortunately, I think you have an altered coin. Coins simply do not show heavy wear in one tiny area, and no where else. Sorry.
1909 VDB's are fairly common. Over 27 million were minted and were quite popular (hoarded) when they were first released. Now if you coin looks RED like (minus some of these blemishes): ...then, you have something worth around $80 to $100 in MS65Red However, most circulated brown 1909 VDB's in EF to AU conditon will go for $4 to $6 dollars.
