I have Republique Francaise 1896 Coin. On the back say Indo-Chine Franciase Titre 0.900 Poids 27GR. Middle of the coin say "Plastre de Commerce". Looks like "gold" or "bronze" color. Was just wondering if anyone know how much this coin worth?

These coins have been known to be counterfeited so you must first determine if your coin is genuine. If it is a genuine coin then the coin's condition (grade) will need to be known to determine a value.

With 11,858,000 minted, KM#5a is relatively common for a French Indo-China (present-day Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia) issue, and quite a bit more common than the slightly heavier 27.215 KM#5.

In the 2001 3rd Ed. Standard Catalog of World Coins 19th Century it is listed at $8 F, $10.00 VF, $17,50 XF and $100 Unc. The lower grade values are out of date, as the .7812 oz. ASW gives it a bullion value of ~$13.70 on today's market.

I wasn't sure why I knew these coins were counterfeited but now I know. I own a counterfeit example! (I bought my coin at a coin show about a month ago and kind of forgot I had it.) My coin has the identical description as the OP's coin except mine is dated 1907 and it does not appear to be gold or bronze, rather it has that silver "Chinese counterfeit" look to it.

I see a lot of counterfeits ones in France, Germany & Spain. I remember someone posted one that was slabbed and it was graded a high MS but didn't look like it deserved the grade and someone questioned whether it was a counterfeit and someone else said they weren't a coin that was counterfeited, but I've seen a ton of counterfeits so I don't know what that other member was talking about?

If I posted every counterfeit I came across (all coins), I'd never have time to do anything else. I will usually only post the ones that peeps are bidding on so as to keep someone from getting burned. The ones that sell for a couple of bucks are actually worth a couple of bucks, so I don't bother with them.
