I had this coin "laying around" (haha), and I was wondering how much it was worth in everyone's eyes. It's an 1877 Half Dollar, and that's all I know about it. (Caution - Images are large (1600x1200), 56K users might not want to open it unless you have the time to wait.) IMG One IMG Two Thanks for your help
I would guess the grade to be F-VF....and so I would guess the value in about $30-$50...if you search on ebay for this coin it should give you an idea on what it is worth better. It is a Seated Half Dollar...it is a 1877-P... Do you know if this coin has been cleaned while you have had it..? Something about the area around the stars and the base where Lady Liberty is siting and the rim makes me wonder...if it has been it would lower the value and the grade. I'm sure other guys will stop by and give you their thoughts. Speedy
Thanks for your opinion. As far as I know, the coin has not been cleaned. I had read before that I should not clean my coins, so these coins have not touched any sort of moisture (other than whats in the air) as long as I've had them. I also have an 1833 Half dollar, but I guess I'll post the pics of that later, unless you want to see it...it's not in that great IMHO, but what do I know, I'm a tech guy who goes to high school who knows nothing 'bout coins .
Welcome to the forum edeab220. One way to reduce the file size without affecting the resolution is to crop. Waiting for all that surrounding background to download is really a waste of time. Whether it's been cleaned or not (and I tend to think it has been), that serious rim ding between two and three o'clock on the obverse has to drop the value significantly.
hehe, thanks for your opinion. And haha, about the pic, I was too lazy to do it, but I guess I'll do it later on Sunday .
