How many different countries do you have coins or paper notes for in your coin collections? I have 53, my favorites including Poland, Canada, Trinidad and Tobaggo, and Fiji. What are your favorites?
Having just received a couple coins from Kazakhstan, I now have coins from 148 different countries. This count includes multiple countries that use the same currency as only one country (IE, I didn't include Ecuador, even though they currently use $US) Papua New Guinea has had a few nice coins. As are the Bahamas and Macedonia. I like to get coins from Russia, Tonga and Cyprus, even though they are generally less creative. The thing is, I have several individual coins that I think are pretty nice, but I won't mention them all individually now. The thought has crossed my mind that some of these coins may be counterfeit, as few American dealers would know the difference. However, because most of these coins have so little value to begin with, I don't think there's much of a threat. I chose to collect world coins for aesthetic reasons, anyway.
244 present COUNTRIES , PROVINCES 6405 COINS , SOME TOKENS , SOME BANKNOTES... Every present day country , that ever had a coin is represented in my collection.
About 160 countries... My favourites are the square ones from Malaya and British Borneo and a commemorative coin from Gibraltar made of Titanium
When last I checked my database - lost now to a crashed computer, I had 104 coins and 34 banknotes in my collection of "one coin/one banknote per country" collection.
2 Countries Have Only 1 Coin , Each MONTSERRAT: 4 DOLLARS (East Carribean) 1970 , copper / nickel FEDERATED STATES OF MICRONESIA: 1 DOLLAR , 2004 , bimetallic As for Monserrat: I saw only one in my entire life and bought it. I payed more than it's value in Krause some years ago, but now it has quadripled its value. As for Micronesia: I paid 45 usa $ last year. The coin can be found sometime in ebay. There are 2 african countries, Niger and Senegal , where it is worthier to buy gold coins of both , because silver coin of both are mor expensive and new series of brass or bimetallic coins has exagerated prices.
