I have never sent anything out for grading, considering I don't think I have anything worth sending for grading. I still have bought a small number of slabbed coins, mostly Morgan Dollars, since the start of 2015. So far I have bought 14 slabbed coins in 2015, 8 MS-64 Morgans, 3 MS-63 Morgans, 2 MS-62 Morgans (One prooflike), and one 1946 MS-65 FB toned dime. 9 PCGS slabs and 5 NGC slabs. How many have you bought this year?
I bought a token from a CT member that was already in a NGC slab when he bought it. Other than that I have been slab free since 1999.
Other extreme here: Everything I've bought this year is slabbed. Figure it will make it easier for an heir to dispose of if something happens to me.
I have bought 3. Not because they were slabbed, but because I liked the coin. At some point they will be naked again.
Just three: 1965 PCGS SP66+RD Lincoln to complete my M66 or better PCGS Registry 1965 Special Mint Set 1971-S NGC PR68CAM Silver Ike Dollar 1972-S PCGS MS66 Silver Ike Dollar Everything else (Silver Washington Quarters in BU, Jefferson Nickels in Full Steps, Liberty Nickels, Mercury Dimes, etc.) All Raw!
Big difference between "How many have you bought" and "How many have you kept" for me Lots of fun flips from eBay & the US Mint this year! I've only added maybe 5 slabbed examples to the collection and will be selling the Moderns from my NGC 7070 registry set soon, which makes for a net deficit of slabbed examples, but the quality of classic coins is improving and that makes me feel good.
