Are you giving any coin gifts for Christmas? Here's mine: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/coins-being-given-as-christmas-presents.409313/ Here's wishes for a happy holiday season to all! Merry Christmas! Spouses/significant others usually don't read coin forums, so it's probably safe to post. Or, just be vague if you're not comfortable with spoiling surprises.
Paper gifts; cash (for those relatives that don't know what they want). I make origami objects that reflect my relatives personality using a $50 or $100. They seem to enjoy it.
This is what I got for my wife to give to me, for my PCGS type set, 2023 Lincoln Shield Cent Extra V PCGS MS66
Not counting giveaways on the Contests forum or Secret Saturnalia over on NumisForums, I gave away three pieces from my collection.
I only buy coins for myself as no one else in the family collects them snd my wife refuses to buy them for me. So it works out.
I picked up a proof 2007 nickel a couple of days ago out of the dollar bin. Cause it was PURDY! I have no idea how many were minted, it's probably worth 7 cents but I don't care. lol I was buying safe coin bifold coin slips and the woman in front of me looked nervous as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs. I figured out later why as I was right behind her. She was picking up 2 gold eagle one ounce coins. I'm sure she was a little paranoid with the likes of me drooling behind her. lol
Same here. If I don't buy for myself, I don't have a growing collection. Besides, nobody in my family could possibly know what to buy me. I just posted a thread about an 1898-O Barber Quarter that I bought from @PamR . My handwriting is atrocious, so I had my wife write out the check. After she wrote the check she said, 'Happy Hanukkah & Merry Christmas'. I said, 'ooooh, great surprise, thank you!'. So in response to this thread subject, yes I do give coin gifts. And I'm quite fond of the recipient, so he normally does pretty well.
Yes! I purchased a Brest Cancer Awareness coin for my kid sister! She’s a fighter who has gone through more than her share of hard times! Two years cancer free!
I got my nephew a Silver Eagle when he achieved Eagle Scout status. In the card I wrote a Silver Eagle for an Eagle Scout.
My grandmother had breast cancer and survived for 25 years. My mother had the same but she lived 30 plus years. My sister refused to do the after surgery treatments and she died within 5 years. Do the surgery and finish those nasty treatments. They can save your life.
Nut, sorry to hear about your sister. It’s a terrible thing. My sister did two treatment of chemo and rad. and had a hard time with it but she’s doing well now. Have a great Xmas and New years !
