There is a $20 bill in the til at work where the serial number is low by about 1/4 inch or so. (Green seal is as well) The lower part of the serial number is printed under the gold 20, but only just a bit. Does a bill like this have any value? It is circulated, but not hammered. I will be glad to save it if it is something people would want. Thanks, Mike
The usual response is pics of course but if it's sitting in a till we can't tell. General rule of thumb on such "errors" is if printing is touching other printing that it shouldn't be it's a minor error. From what you described it doesn't sound like an error. Take a good look at it when you get a chance. Even if it is a minor error it won't garner much of a premium if any at all. clembo
Thanks Clembo. The printing is touching (overprint) but only a little. It is the bottom bar on the numeral 2 in thickness that is under the golden 20, but it does make it difficult to read accurately. As I said, a minor- very minor- error and probably something only a true fan would want. When it comes to the unusual, I never know what folks find attractive. Maybe I'll snag it and trade it on the open forum for something equally minor! Thanks again- Mike
You're welcome Mike and not a bad idea. Trade face for face which reminds me I need to send some $2 notes to Snaz. Keep looking buddy. If you're handling cash you'll find more than most people. clembo
minor errors are 'minor' and not considered worth much. But liek clembo said, if the serial is touching a desing element at all... then minor or not, its worth face value keep looking
Have to agree with Clembo here.... However, if a collector has a fettish for this type of note, well nothing will stop them!! RickieB
