I was just looking through some change and found a few pennies and a dime that appear to be off center. I'm no expert, but I would say it is 2%-3% off center. One side has strong edges and the opposite side has no edge at all. I'm not at home so no pictures can be posted at the moment, but the question still stands. How far off center makes it a error?

As long as it can be verified, 1% can be. I have a 10% one.

My rule of thumb is 8% or more. I've seen many 3% while roll hunting and just threw them back. Another rule of thumb I run by is if there is missing lettering. If there is still a rim on the other side, it isn't a keeper.

Thanks for the info you two. I have a Lincoln that is over 35% if I remember correctly. I will post pictures when I get home.

Without doing some long equation, a idea that might work would be to give t to someone that doesnt know anything about cons and see if they notice when you tell them to look at it. If they do, its a good one, if they dont, its not a major one and most likely a spender.

Good idea. I will mix in a few "normal" coins as well.
