Here we go again about the young generation of today from completely out of touch people

Maybe people should start posts about the old curmudgeon generation of today?

I have a spreadsheet of what I have but it does not include value other than face value.... I really do not care what they are worth....

I can most defiantly understand this, as for me in future years, if my family does not care for the coins I will try and find some young collector who is. Like if I know any who are. That's my thing with it I guess.

This is mostly true. Of course there's 1000 to 1 people who are cheap skates and just want to buy crap. That's what our local dealer tells me. Most people who come in don't want anything slabbed so they don't even display it. lol But there are people who want the premiums stuff still. They're just fewer and far between. Some people just like hoarding cash. They'll be in for a surprise some day too.

Why dont you just offer to the people in here??? You wont find any youngster interested , as the coins are not a mobile phone...Personally i dont care about my family as they have shown no interest so why leave it all to them..In fact why leave anything to them...I am slowly selling off my stuff and every 2 years or so and my wife and i go on a cruise... We may as well enjoy what we can get out of my collection than leave it to the ungrateful younger generation that does not give a dam. I highlighted above in red the key sentence to your paragraph... I would not wait for later if i was you,,,Finding that person is like finding a full set of buffalo nickels with all horns complete to the point and eye of the animal crystal clear..IT WONT HAPPEN!!! Enjoy the money now and let them look after themselves. You wont get any thanks from them as my 2 kids showed me that. ... OIO

Just to prove how completely out of touch you are you're not going off about how ungrateful and uninterested younger generations are, to someone who is from the younger generation...........

Your two kids not caring doesn't mean anything other than your kids don't care

I'm 15 lol, and I know of some people who would enjoy coins, I mean I have gotten about 2 others into coins and one other into collecting military gear like I do. While sure we have to deal with thots and douche bags, but isn't that every ones generation? Our voice is just amplified by the internet, that is why we seem so stupid. But I think the issue with younger collectors is that a lot don't have the experience and hence the trust of our predecessors. I am not like most of my fellow young collectors who are just starting out because I have done this for a few years, I have knowledge now but a lot fall for the bogas on YouTube or are simply discouraged by peoples distrust in them. I mean I have had to fight constantly to get my family to pass me the old swords and muskets in the family, I have an uncle who wants it all but it still wont stop me. I understand it must be hard to have those 2 kids who don't but that's not all of us mate, some of us (especially my mate Mustafa) still care!

Without question. This whole the younger generation today nonsense that is being expressed is the same thing his grandparents generation said about his generation and has been going on forever. It's nothing new.

Exactly. Technology today allows very small groups of vocal people to come across like they're the majority or it's the norm. It gets exhausting to rebuff them constantly and normal people generally just give up after a while or only do it here and there so the vocal ones seem like the norm when they aren't

one more thing lads, Socrates said this ages ago, this is not new.

"The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for
authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place
of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their
households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They
contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties
at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers."

Just so you all know, anyway my dad told me of this and it reminded me of it.

I do know for a fact we didn't have "thots" when I was a youngster. And I'm not going to google it.

I must say it sounds like a dream land, not having to deal with the thotties. But then again, a lot of it is just amplified by the internet. Luckily my school does not have many of those lot. Its the public schools with all the problems.

    Ok fine lol.

Thots have been around for thousands of years, they absolutely were around when you were a youngster

We have a phrase now in this day an age, its called the thot patrol.

Anyway, lets get this conversation back to coins and away from "thot talk". This seems like more of a disscussion for reddit

Some may be distant but I will not stay quiet, My voice will be heard! Collecting is for all to enjoy not just the old and I will not be silenced by such silliness! You are not dealing with your average bloke, I am the type who if you throw to the ground I will keep on coming. And if you don't think us lads are not "real" collectors then explain this! These are my final words for today and I will end this here; but I will not stop until we are heard! Good day, my silly sauerkraut! I hope this argument goes no further.
