I have been collecting Modern Commems for several years now and I've been buying them all directly from the Mint in the Mint boxes, vs slabbed...

    If you buy a

    1 Dollar Commem 1 (Proof & Unc) 2
    1 Dollar Commem 2 (Proof & Unc) 2

    HalfDollar Commem 1 (Proof & Unc) 2
    HalfDollar Commem 2 (Proof & Unc) 2

    = 8 Commems a year x 10 years, thats 80 Coins...

That adds up pretty quick.... I have them organized by year, then coin, all in a few plastic totes that I put in my Gunsafes...

How do you all store them???

I put them in my breifcase, and it goes in the bottom of my closet. I am thinkinf of buying a safe for the floor, but I figure, some theif may know I got something in it, and will pick it up and carry it awy...believe me, those small safes seem heavy, but really they are not, 200-250 pounds max, I could take out any of yours in that weight class....if your really serious, go for the large all steel, gun case...they are immense in weight and cannot go to far.

The ones I have I keep in the original mint boxes and store in a hole out behind the chicken coop.

After the US Mint / US Gov got phsychotic ( Producing Too many ) I moved strickly to Gold/Plat commems.
These I store in ICG Bell Labs Boxes - 20 each box and they stack nicely in my safe. I only need one more to complete the set - Yes - a MS MR Robinson.

Yea those smaller document safes are useless... I have one and the dang hinges broke and the lid fell off... I had only opened it like 10-12 times...

Now one of my safes weights like 850 or a tad above and the other is like 1150, had my uncle bolt them to the concrete floor...

I did that after I saw how easy it was to move the third and smallest one, that is now only used as a lock box for ammo, mags and other gun goodies...

I wanted a great big huge one thats like 4000+ LBS, but it would not fit thought the doors or down the steps... Next house, I'm buying oe of those Vault doors and just building a small 10'x10' Vault room.... Will also server for storm shelter in case of tornado...

Very nice looking setup.... Thank you for the pic...

I see all your boxes have labels too...

I label all my PCGS and NGC boxs too, with the Series of coins/Years that are in there too... I don't have anywhere near that many though....

I kinda wish all mine were slabbed NGC, but I have so many unslabbed in mint boxes that I can't go the other way now...

There all labeled and I still cant find the coins!! :goof:

I hate it when I have let say 21 coins in a series and only 20 coins fit in a box!!

A safe deposit box or a small safe that is bolted to the floor in a closet.

Very nice case there schatzy! I love setups like that. Only thing is that I would worry about it if something ever happens. ie robbery, fire, flooding, etc
