I looked for a thread like this and didn't find one, so I thought i would start one. I noticed there are some pretty good coin pics going on here and was wondering if anyone would like to share thier set-up. This is a set-up I use below. My camera stand is an old work light that I converted to hold my camera. It swivels, extends in and out and up and down. I laso made a little tilt table that tilts sideways and back and forth to get coin angles. I use different lights for different coins. I have OTT, florescent, and regular house bulbs. Below my set-up is pics of a Walker I have that I took last week. Share ya'lls!!

Nice setup and excellent pics! Shows you what's possible for just a little creativity! Funny, you have canned air handy too....LOL....I keep a can next to my area. I hate seeing a piece of lint on the coin after I take the pic. No matter how careful you are, it seems a small piece of something always finds it's way to the coin surface.

Very nice set up! Great idea using the old lamp stand....And an awesome picture of one of my favorite coins.

well... I must say... Awesome pictures and you just showed the first walker I've ever liked. I'm not a fan of those coins. But that one is awesome!

    Thanks for sharing!!!

I have historically used a tripod to hold the camera directed downward onto the coin. The tripod is cumbersome & takes up a lot of floor space compared to your swing-arm. Seeing your set-up has given me ideas of how I can improve my set-up. Thanks for sharing!!!

    Very best regards,

Nice set-up. Beautiful coin. My set-up is to hover over the coin and hope my hand is steady. Not very reliable. I could never get a photo like yours the way I do it.

Yea, some type of a tripod or copy stand, or even a homemade set-up that I use is essential for taking pics I feel. Also, using the self-timer mode and holding the button down halfway first enabling the camera to focus in are useful ideas.

Nice photos. For me I seldom photograph coins. But when I do I go outside, place the coin on my bar-b-que grill cover, hold the camera in my hands, take a deep breath and shoot. With this digital system I can take several hundred photos so eventually one will come out as good as I want.

:D It only took me about 20 pics to get the shots I wanted carl. I don't think I'll try the pit pics.;)
