    Welcome to CoinTalk.

If you want your coins graded by PCGS your best bet is to take them to a dealer who is a PCGS member.

Your next best bet is to join ANA (American Numismatic Association). With an ANA membership you can submit your coins to NGC. (Contact me if you are interested in joining ANA. Junior membership is $16/year, I think.)

Yes, you can trust PCGS and NGC to take care of your coins.

    Hi,

    first off, welcome to CT

second, You havw nothing to worry about when sending them in to PCGS and NGC...I have never done it, but they are reputable.

Also, You should post your coins here so we can advice you what to send in and what not to..grading is VERY expensive and is not worth it unless you know what you have along with what grade it is, and know it wont end up in a body bag and it is authentic.

Listen to those guys. Both PCGS and NGC are very reputable and won't damage or lose your coins. They will be safe in their hands.

One thing to keep in mind though, those companies are very strict about the coins they grade. If any of the coins you want to send have been cleaned or are damaged in any way (other than from normal circulation) they will not grade them. You will receive your coins back in a "body bag" ungraded...and they will keep your money.

What I would do, is first post clear pics of the coins you want to send to them here on the CT forum...both obverse and reverse. There are many people here who will look at the photos and help you decide if there are any coins that shouldn't be sent.

Welcome. As far as I know if you belong to ebay you do direct submissions to NGC without joining anything. And yes you can trust NGC and PCGS.

Learn to grade your own coins. Invest in yourself and get a copy of the ANA guide and a copy of photograde. Learn them. It'll be the best $30 you've ever spent, then maybe one of those TPGs will hire you to work for them.

Hello Italiankid and welcome to CT.

Everyone has giving you some very sound advice on what to do about getting your coins graded, but the one you should pay close attention to is the one bqcoins gave you, learn how to grade coins yourself. There are very good books out there that can help you learn this very important part of coin collecting. One book that I like is "HOW TO GRADE U.S. COINS" by James L. Halperin. I thank you can still get this book for free when you join Heritage Auctions, and I think Doug said that there is an online site that has this book on it as well. What ever you do I hope you have fun doing it, and if you ever need help you can always come here. Again welcome and Good Luck.

Why do you want to submit your rare coins to be graded?

Are you planning on selling them?
    Do you want them authenticated?
Are you looking to preserve and protect them?
Do you want to participate in an online registry?

I'm sure there are other reasons that do not immediately come to mind, but your reason for grading your coins would influence what company you choose.
