" Greetings from the United States Mint. Thank you for ordering from the United States Mint. We regret to inform you that the item(s) listed below are currently sold out. A customer service representative will be happy to assist you in finding an alternative item. "
i think it's a mistake on the Mint's part (pretty screwed up if you ask me) our government hard at work!
If more items are pr-ordered by subsciption than the Mint can produce. I was wondering if that might happen witht eh2010 proof silver eagle because the mint has said that they can only make 200K of them a month. People have been piling on the subscription list for the proof ASE for two years now, and when they finally announced they were going to make them probably even more piled on or upped their order. Even if the started making them when they announced they were going to be made at 200K per month they could only make between 600 and 800K. If the have more pre-order subscriptions than that they are sold out.
" Dear United States Mint Customer, On Wednesday, November 10, 2010, The United States Mint sent email notifications out to customers notifying them that some backordered and subscription items were canceled. This was an error. We are diligently working on a resolution to this issue. We sincerely apologize for the confusion and inconvenience this may have caused. To answer the OQ, I remember when the Mint canceled the subscription service for the First Spouse coins rather than have a sell out before they were available for sale. I think they might have done the same if it were the case with the ASE.
