Horse & Vine/Tree, Maroneia Thrace

    Here is another ancient for me to bother you with :D

    This BY FAR the oldest coin I've ever attributed.* I believe it's a Thracian issue of the famous Prancing Horse, Olive Tree motif.* A pretty common one but still neat to find and clean in a group of uncleaned Judean coins. It's 16mm and 5.3g's in size, looks to be bronze.

    Bone,
    I believe this is your second one of these.It's from Thrace for sure but the area is Maroneia...hence the MAR on the left side and the Omega (O) N & I on the top ...MARONI.Those are not olive trees,they are grape vines.Maroneia was famous for it's horses and wine.

    I love these coins.They are about the cheapest 2400 year old coins money can buy and the artistry of the horse prancing design can be amazing.
