Ok so earlier I posted a 1960 penny an it wasn't a small date so I used that to compare all the other 1960 in a roll of pure 1960 pennies an I hope I got one now I'm still new to this so I don't know how to tell that much can you guys help please..... Top first one I posted large date...., bottom hopefully that 1960 small date I see the 0 more smaller n fatter an the 9&6 look smaller to
It you want to know what one looks like in hand, they are easy to find or pick up for 1960-D. Both small dates from Denver and Philadelphia look exactly the same(except the D of course).
No. There are small and large dates from both mints. The Denver mint produced about equal numbers of both, but the Philadelphia mint produced a lot less small dates.
The easiest way to tell them apart, at least for me, is to look at the inside tip of the 9. On the small date, the tip will be rounded and pointy. On the large, it's blocked off. And of course, on the small, the 9 is even with the 1. Taller on the large.
Large date, easy to spot, the 6 is majorly different on the small dates. As suggested before, find a 60-D small date and use it to compare. The 60-D small dates are almost as abundant as the large dates and therefore carry no premium like the Philly issue.
