Well I say PCGS graded higher by about 1 point than I will but I would say MS65
Nice coin but I think on funny lighter color on Monticello kills the higher grade for me.

    I'd say MS63, because I always say MS63.

    a. because the steps are only 5-4-3-5 tick.tick...cut (and steps are generally all I care about :) )

    b. a few bag marks on the obverse - and since I'm not good at grading I always give MS63 to bag marks

    so Speedy is probably right

True but I thought the steps mostly mattered if you wanted a FS nickel....other wise you grade the same right??...I'm not much on nickels.

Yah...the bag marks got me too.....I wasn't sure about that...I don't think they were in the place where it is called a HOT spot....so I think they would be ok...

I guess the other Walker thread scared everyone away from this one.

This coin was graded MS 66 by PCGS.

You guys are being fooled by the large photos, I think.

This coin has booming luster and color and you can't see a single mark on the coin without magnification. There is some weakness centrally in the reverse devices, very typical of this coin. The "mottling" in the fields above Monticello is the way the coin has toned. This coin is acually multi-colored on both sides (most likely from a roll), but the photos do not show it very well. You can barely see it in the photographs from 6 o'clock to 9 o'clock on the reverse through the letters UNITED STATES.

It just goes to show that grading high grade coins from photographs is challenging at best...Mike

Well Hot-Dog....I was right....I said that pcgs would grade it one point higher than I would.
And as you said....with the coin in hand I might even up my grade :D
