    Leadfoot there is no spoon

Here's a series that I've not posted before. Please guess the grade that PCGS assigned this Eisenhower dollar:

I'm not familiar of grading Eisenhowers but I'd guess MS63.

Speedy, I greatly respect your grading abilities on Liteside stuff, but I guess I must be too too persnickety. With those marks on the chin and cheek I just can't see anything over MS62. :(

Personally, I just about agree with you Roy. I'd say 63.

While on many coins I would agree there were 2 things that came into my guess on this peice.
The first thing is something Mike said...
That is what I guessed--(the way I posted might not have been worded right---it might have sounded like I was agreeing with the grade given by PCGS)....mine and PCGS's grades aren't the same.

BUT it seems that Ike Dollars are hard to grade IMHO---many times being a larger and heavier coin the coin will get more bag marks....nicks and such....I also was thinking that not many Ike Dollars seem to be well struck....I don't know if that is right or not but alot of the Ike Dollars I see seem to be missing some detail.
If that is right then I can see it getting a higher grade---but if I'm just finding some bad coins and most Ike's are well struck then I would disagree with a high grade.

All in all---more than likely I'm wrong---and I would be the first to say so.....

    I would say MS 64
    PCGS MS 65

Nice reverse. Planchet scratches and mark on cheek should limit the grade to 64.

This coin comes very nice but nice choice and gem examples are not extremely common.

I think this will eek out an MS64 from PCGS , but just barely. Alot of small nicks on the surfaces.

Proof coins are minted with special dies that have been blasted to produce a frost image with deep mirrored fields, which this coin is not!!

When you have collected coins for as long as I have you know when a coin is a proof and when it is a business strike.

You need to educate yourself, try purchasing a red book and then read it.
