I was at my local coin shop today buying some coins for my dansco 7070 album and my guy has a bucket of "unsearched" lincoln cents that he keeps on the back shelf. He sells baggies of 400 wheaties for $25 plus you get a hand full out of the bucket. I've purchased some before, and grabbed a hand full of coins, which comes out to somewhere between 350 and 450 in a hand full. (yes, I have big hands). So I bought a bag today, and was sitting here at home sifting through it finding mostly 40's and 50's. Go figure, I've never had good luck doing this and when I was about 80% of the way through the bag I came across this 31s. HOLY COW!!!! I was shocked. I may have to go buy another bag!!!!!! I graded it somewhere between vf/xf.
Nice find!!! I found one of my 1914-D Lincoln's that way...although it was barely recognizable (I thought it was an S for years).
Easily a XF40, look at the strike on that, I'll buy VF lincolns like that all day long. 31-S is a mushy date. Way cool nice find !!!!!!
nice find. really nice circ. coin. a like these better than the red unc ones. they were hoarded by the hundreds of thousands. this one has charcter and a story
I agree that it looks like a solid EF-40! Nice find and I hope you find other Key Dates when you go back! Frank
A very nice coin, I would go VF 30 maybe XF. Two question; where is this shop? and can I borrow your hands?
im not going to lie... ive been strangley attracted to lincoln cents latley.... i think i found my next challenge:thumb:
Great Find! I guess there are advantages to living in Nebraska!!! When do you guys get to vote - or have they skipped over you for this election? (I'm just KIDDING!!!! Ha ha ha)
Congratulations on a great Find! I am certainly not a grading expert, least of all with american coins, but that Lincoln seems to be at least Very Fine to me. Super!
