To prove I have not been sleeping through my Advanced Digital Coin Photography course during Week 2 at ANA Summer Seminar below are four examples of what I have learned how to do. The instructor brought this beautiful Proof Walker. It was a very difficult coin to photograph. The 1903 IHC is mine. The 1882 Seated Liberty Half is also mine. I have posted photos of it before but these are the best photos I have taken of it - so far. I think they turned out quite well. Let me tell you, it is difficult to take good photos of Proof coins. All photos of Proof coins were taken using axial lighting. Axial lighting brings out both the mirrors of the fields and toning that cannot be captured using other lighting methods. The 1871 Seated Liberty Dollar belongs to a classmate. I lost track of how many shots it took before I got one (of each side) that was acceptable. But the results were worth it.
Some great pics Bruce , going to take a course at the ANA Chicago show . Hopefully I'll learn to take pics half as good . Way to go buddy . Rusty
Nice shots. Crack the IHC and remove the finger print, get regraded. Only kidding - those are some nice photos. Especially the seated liberty dollars.
