hobby crossover items

here are some crossover items that i have that fit 2 of my hobbies. these were give aways at the 1975 ANA convention in L.A. (no, I wasn't there) I have Krazy Kard 1 and 2, i don't know how many there were. pics are:

obv. of "coin"
Rev of "coin

I assume that is a whopping 50 grains of 24k gold.

Those are very cool, Richard. I've never seen them before. I think they would be fun to collect, even if they were only produced 2 years.

 

Actually they were produced for only one event. If you look at the postmark on the stamp they are actually both postmarked the same day at the 1975 annual ANA convention in Los Angeles.

 

Oh. I see now. Still very cool. I wonder how many different versions they made.

 

I've still have some philatelic/numismatic combos from the time leading up to the Bicentennial.
Medals produced by the Mint combined with stamps produced by the BEP.

Very common.
You should be able to get them for about $2 each on eBay unless there was suddenly a lot of interest in them.

Wow, I even found an old image of one of mine.

 

Ahhh, someday I hope I can get back to my stamp collections and perhaps even get my military patch collection installed in appropriate albums. But only if I stop buying new coins and photographing old ones....what to do, what to do ........

Well, Jim, if you are like me, you will never get up-to-date with your stamps because they come out with so many!!!!! I quit collecting stamps about 15 years ago because the USPS decided that the stamp collectors were 'cash cows'! I was busy working and starting a family and just simply couldn't afford it. I collected singles, plate blocks and FDCs. I really enjoyed it, but I decided my coins and commemorative Coke bottles were fun and easier to keep track of. And also my turbo Chrysler products!! So much to do!!

 

I didnt even think of having stamp collectors here. Hmmm

 

And the US Mint doesn't!!!???

My stamp collecting started about the same time as my coin collecting, about 1955.
I wised up and stopped collecting current material about 1965-1970.
Most anything I buy now is from the classic era, the 19th century.

I flop back and forth between stamps and coins.
For the last 15 or so years it's been 90% coins.
But if we get another 1980, I'll be back in stamps in a heartbeat.

 

And the US Mint doesn't!!!???

Yes, Kanga, the Mint is getting there!! That is one thing that is bothering me about all these special 'issues' that are coming out. I hope the Mint 'wises' up before it is too late!!!
