Considering that some 1982 cents and pre-82 cents have an intrinsic value of $0.023285/each, who is hoarding them?

Considering that nickels have an intrinsic value of $0.0629551/each, who is hoarding them?

Considering no matter what the intrinsic value may be you'll still only get face no matter where you take them, I just hoard them until I have enough to roll and take to the bank in exchange for something I can fit in my wallet.

I am saving any pre82 cents I find in circulation but I am not going out of my way to get them. I haven't saved any nickels.

  10. I save copper cents but have nothing close to what lincolnhoardr has accumulated. You should pay your taxes to the IRS with that hoard. :D TC

Hey, one of those pennies is one I lost. I want it back.

Like they said in Jaws, I think I will need a bigger coffee can.

Have they all been searched for errors/varieties? Could have a few more years of fun with them!!

They switched over halfway through 82 the only way to tell is to weigh them out , coppers = 3.0/3.1, others = 2.4/2.5. And some where along the way someone said there is a rare 1983 cent that is copper and worth quite a bit.

After seeing the Gigantic tubs of coppers, they just put my little tupperware tubs to shame! Looks like I have some catching up to do.

We just had a long thread about this. What you put above is not correct. People are ALREADY selling copper cents for a premium on Ebay. My post in the other thread gives recent examples of sales on Ebay.

So, yes, I'm saving them when I find them because they are worth more than a cent. No, I'm not saving nickels because I don't know if they will sell for a premium ever, though it is possible.

    And Lincolnhoardr: Wow..................WOW!

How many pounds do you have?
