I wonder how much this token is worth? Slave tokens are on the rise with everything else and I've slowly been picking up tokens from this era. :kewl: Anyone?
Though you've probably already seen it, here is some info on the specimen from Notre Dame: http://www.coins.nd.edu/ColCoin/ColCoinIntros/Barbados.intro.html Here is one up for bid, appears to have been dipped, closing in just over an hour: http://cgi.ebay.com/Barbados-coin-1788-/190397255211?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c548f8e2b Another Raw specimen - averred to be "UNC" - as a BIN for $550: http://cgi.ebay.com/1788-BARBADOS-1PENNY-TN5-Pr11-SMALL-HEAD-UNC-/370356616823?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item563af97e77
Hey CheetahCats, Thanks for the heads up!!. The last time I looked on ebay there weren't any at all except for one for $250. The $500 dollar one just isn't that great, I'm thinking of submitting mine to teletrade, we'll see how my current submission with them pans out. :thumb:
Here's one. Aside from the cheesy slab, not sure if the token even looks entirely kosher: http://cgi.ebay.com/BARBADOS-1792-TOKEN-1-2-PENNY-XF-/380235245525?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5887c967d5 Anways, here's a plate of Barbaboes dies (doesn't include the 1792.) You inspired me! I did a bit of research on the Barbadoes Penny, and decided to pick one up. I'm awaiting delivery. Based on recent pricing, I believe I caught a good deal on it too. Here are the specimen's obverse and reverse images. I'm not sure if the item has been actually rubbed [recently], or if the camera's exposure is making the specimen's patina appear rubbed. I supposed I will know in a few days when the coin arrives. BTW - I believe this particular specimen is a 1.A.
