Here is a link to the coin , in ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Australian-...200942899140?pt=AU_Coins2&hash=item2ec9214fc4 It is written "Rare dot inside the horn " . I can't see the dot. Who can see? Tell me please. Thank you very much. Avi.
the only dot i know about is dot (before shilling) equals Perth mint but if this is a 1942s then it was made in sanfransico usa the only rare/scarce dates around this time that i know of are 39 40 and 46 the 42s had a mintage of 4000000
well its seems the dot in the horn is a variety but this only shows it for 1941 http://www.afscoins.com/images/pdf/Australian Coin Varieties.pdf vg=$25 ebay is the only place selling the 42
and theres no way the variety could have transfered over inless they shipped the die to san fransico the 41 with the variety was minted in Melbourne
Hi Avi400. I am looking at my 2013 Krause world coin catalog now and I see no "DOT" variety for that year. seems like a scam to me. plus he is charging way to much for it too. that coins info from my catalog: Australia KM#39 1942-S . S=Sydney mint, mintage-4,000,000 . .925 silver grades/values: VF-$BV(Book Value-silver price) XF-$7.00, UNC-$27.50, BU-$44.00
scam. I see no "Dot" variety for ANY of the dates for this coin.... so I think it is a scam. my Krause catalog is very good at adding in varieties for coins. I see no dot variety for this date or any other dates for this coin type.
krause has a lot of errors theres a listing for 3 different proof british coins that dont even exist which also makes the ngc website wrong because there value guide runs on krause software
