Picked up a high number serial number note recently by staying up too late on fleabay. My highest number so far. Don't know if it's worth the 5$ it cost me but the beer & vodka thought it was cool and at least it's CU!!.
That is a nice note. It must have come from someone who cared for the note. I have been saving sheet-notes from circulation for a number of years and they usually tell their age by the condition they are in...
Could you explain? I though all notes were cut from a BEP sheet, except of course if you buy the whole sheet or a portion of it.
BEP now produced 50-notes on a single sheet. They are called Business-notes. They also produce Star-replacement notes on sheets. The sheet that you are asking about (and your note came from) is called a Souvenir-sheet. BEP sells them to collectors and visitors to the BEP both in Texas and DC. Back in the 1999 series the BEP printed 640,000 sheets of 32-notes each with serials ranging from C993600001A > C99999999A. Yours is reasonably close to the high serial.
All notes originate from sheets, correct. The BEP sells 4, 8, 16, and 32 subject sheets for $1, $2, and $5. The $10, $20, $50 and $100 notes are also sold as 4, 8, and 16 subject sheets. These are sold to collectors. Some collectors then cut up the sheets and sell them as individual notes. Link to BEP Money Store.....http://www.moneyfactorystore.gov/uncutcurrency.aspx
