HIGH HOPES

  1. Hoping this 1984-P Washington quarter from roll search is what I think it is. The reverse is apparently from a proof die but cannot find anything online about it. The letters do match the proof but there is a definite grain in the fields & no frost on devices. Plan on taking it up to ICG in Tampa, about five miles away. They are really good people & will let you walk in & help you with your discoveries. Not sure how to upload photo but will research it. ODD COINS 006.jpg ODD COINS 006.jpg ODD COINS 005 (2).jpg

Looks like your average philly quarter to me.Can't be struck with proof dies and I would suggest not getting it certified.

You just discovered a 1984 quarter, worth 25 cents. Don’t waste your time taking it anywhere.

It looks proof as it was struck by a new die but it just a plain ole general circulation quarter that’s worth twenty five cents. Do not waste money grading it.

Nice strike on a business quarter. Like @Collecting Nut said, the dies were new. Not worth your money to grade.

That's a pretty clean quarter for a circ find. Stash that one away either in a roll flip or folder. Good eye!

It's a nice early struck quarter and would look nice in a quarter set.

Pictures in the 2X2 are useless.

Take pictures pre-putting them in the holder

I would expect a proof to be fully struck.
Notice that the eagle's breast feathers are barely evident.

Heck, if you have a relationship with people at ICG, go for it. That way, you will know for sure what you have.
And please post the results when you do.
    Good luck.

It's your choice. Asking the TPG is a great idea and posting the answer would be nice also. Keep in mind that anomalies happen more often than errors, good luck.

Certainly is a clean quarter. I would set that aside myself. A new die will strike up a pretty amazing surface. I probably wouldn’t bank on a proof die being used. Just a new die.
