Looking through 1900 coins on that Internet Trading Community, really just window shopping, came across this-- another grading service? "World Coin Grading." http://cgi.ebay.com/1900-GRADED-MS6...9QQihZ001QQcategoryZ39466QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem It looks like a nice 1900 Morgan and certainly one can't get hurt on the starting bid. A random check of feedback for this seller (98.4% positive, one negative and nine neutrals vs. 1219 positives from 449 users, almost all buyers) showed other "World Coin Grading" slabbed Morgans. A search on "World Coin Grading" here (using Google directly on this site) showed nothing related in any threads. Any opinions?
They are "make it yourself" slabs. I did a little looking around, but couldn't find that exact one. Most of them have black inserts.
Ignore the slab. Ignore the grade. Look closely at the coin, try to determine the grade, and bid what you think is fair. You can't get hurt bidding the minimum. I can't tell from the photo what the grade might be. Maybe MS64, maybe AU58 if there is some wear. Has it been cleaned? Looks a little dull. Maybe others can give you a better idea.
I first saw that particular slab a couple months ago. I don't know if this is the same company as the World Coin Grading Service that I listed in the Slabbook back in 2003.
The auction ended with a winning bid of $86. I passed, since I would feel much more comfortable in general with an in person sale at that price point.
It looks to me to be another self-slabber. There are so many of them on ebay it isn't funny. I personally would stay away from any coin slabbed by anyone other the PCGS, NGC, ICG, or ANACS unless they had very good photos that I could use to grade the coin for myself.
Exactly. That is the kind of slab you can buy here http://www.tcbulk.com/scripts/prodview.asp?idproduct=408:rolling: just to name one place.
It looks like a do-it-yourself, let's make up agrade slabber to me. It doesnt even look MS to me. Bill
