I'll have a weight later but it's rather thick and about the diameter of a dime. Figure it's SNG COP 845

    Any thoughts?

This is a common bronze coin from Syracuse. Yours is a decent to nice example. I would rather have one with a complete patina. Something has removed the patina from the high spots of yours.

I warn against your practice of quoting references like you know what they mean when in reality you have not seen that book and do not know if the place you got that number understood the matter either. I do not know exactly which variation of the Hieron II coin is shown in SNG COP 845. I only own two of the volumes:

There is no such thing as a complete catalog of ancient coins. Some references make fine distinctions while others lump many together. This is roughly your coin:

    This is mine:

Some people will say 'same' others will see a difference they consider significant. I'd call it an AE19 of Syracuse under Hieron II with Poseidon / trident. Yours is quite decent compared to many.

If you have "Hieron II" as all you know, you can go to vcoins and search on that. You will find lots of similar coins and ID info on them. I just did that, got 102 hits, and counted 31 coins like yours.
