Since I'm also on the wagon, here's mine:

    From Rome to the Kush
    Over everyone it rolls
    Cruel is the wagon
    (oh, but not over TIF)

Dammit, TIF, you broke my haiku!

I don't think I am very good at this, but here is a shot at it:

Best one yet, lol. I'm not sure the younger folk will get the reference. Our generation had the best cartoons.

I think so far only chrsmat and TIF have gotten the haiku in the proper form. Everyone else, back to coin-collecting!

on the contrary => I modelled my version after a famous poem:

    An old pond!
    A frog jumps in—
    the sound of water.

Steve's correct. While in school we were taught to use a strict 5-7-5 syllable structure, apparently traditional haiku is more about obliquely evoking a scene with a minimum of words.

JA's most accurately represents my current situation though :D

Edited: the syllable count variance may be due to translation issues.

Damn, Steve, there's a dude called Basho who stole your poem about 300 years ago :D.

As you can see, Steve's syllable count is clearly correct when translated to Japanese.

Just so we can also keep it about coins, does anyone have that Smyrna issue showing Homer? Uhm, the poet that is, not the Simpson.

No, but getting a Homer portrait coin is high on the list.
