Hi everyone a year ago my sister wife father died suddenly 2 days before Thanksgiving then my sister mother in law died 2 months later they were in their late 60s to early 70s. But my sister in law gave me her parents change to look through I just hd to replace with what I took and I am finally looking through the coins now.

But could this 1966 Dime be silver it sounds like it when I drop it on the table. Thank you to who might know.

Hi @Kristymarie0816 After 1964 circulated dimes are clad (outer layers of copper/nickel bonded to inner core of copper). They are not silver. If you look at the edge you should see copper between the outer layers.

    Please show the edge.

Also.. Try this tissue test if you think it's silver.

FYI. I was born in 1966. If you drop me on a table, I sound worse than Silver. Ouchhh!!!

so ... are you saying that they look the same ?
the really dirty 1957 dime compared to a dirty 1966 dime ?

you can clearly see the clad layer in your dime

That thin edge of copper on the side means it’s clad and only worth a dime.
