I accidently put 1982 penny in the title for the thread and don't know how to change it!! This is a 1998 penny! Hello all, I may be wasting your time here but came across this penny the other day. It is a 1998 D penny, which has a silver looking edge or ridge all the way around and seems to be thinner then the typical 1998 D penny. Just curious if this is natural wear or is this an error penny? Thanks for your time in looking!! You'll have to scroll down when you open the pics in adobe.

Probably a high school science experiment.

Someone probably ground down the rim, removing the copper layer and exposing the zinc core, which would look silvery.
