Hello all! My name is Axel! Several years ago, my grandfather passed away. My father received my grandfather's coin collection. You see, he was a coin collector all his life. My father had little interest in it, so he gave the collection to me. However, when I say collection, I do not mean what you think. He kept all of his coins in many little "money-bags". I put these bags into my closet for several years and I just recently started looking through them. I am in love with it. The collection includes coins from somewhere in French or Napolean empire in 1700s, coins from Russian empire in 1800s, Third Reich coins, few old American coins. Alot of the Russian coins are BIG, sort of like the old American half dollars. I know nothing about coin collecting and I want to put them into some kind of albums. All the albums i see online are for american coins, I have no idea what to purchase. Can someone please help me? Thanks! Axel
Just off hand, maybe you should buy some 2X2's in differant sizes and then put them in either a 2X2 holder box or a folder type book with plastic incerts for the 2X2's.any coin supply place in town or internet will have these. Now maybe you will become a new collector!?? maybe you could post some of your better coins for us???Regards, Mike.(WELCOME!)
Wow, that's great! Yes, 2coins has said an excellent idea. You should get 2x2 and also a holder. http://www.jpscorner.com/ <- This link has decent inventory of coin storage materials and also ina reasonable price. It might be useful to pick up a Krause so that you can identify what coins your grandfather had, that is if you have an interest of knowing what they are If you are talking about those huge chunky Russian 5 kopek copper coins minted in the 1700s, those will not fit in a 2x2. You might need a special 2.5x2.5 flips as some of mine are. Feel free to post pictures in here And also a warm welcome in joining here.
Thank you all for your replies!! I am going to order some of the 2x2s, as suggested. Im unable to post pics until next week, bc thats when I will be home, from university. I dunno which of the coins are the most valuable, but I have some favorites. A solid gold coin from somewhere in the netherlands I think? Many Commerative Lenin coins celebrating his 100th from soviet union. Third Reich Coins Napolean coins American coins from the old west, i think, they have cool designs on them. And yes, I am going to start collecting! Thank you all for your help, once again!
