HEY I HAVE A QUESTION!!!!

Discussion in 'US Coins Forum' started by Derrick Jarvis, Aug 19, 2017.

  1. Hello as I have stated on other forums I am fairly new to collecting coins. I was talking with a guy on a YouTube about Special proof sets like the 1950-1969 with Kennedy and Franklin. I am putting my coin books together and the question came up about getting graded and he told me to open them get them graded. I am really confused on this I thought the proof and mint sets are suppose to stay together. Why would he tell me to bust them open get them graded?

Because he assumes you might be selling them, and individual pieces, broken out and graded (high) can command very high prices. Leave 'em intact, and enjoy collecting. One more thing...........welcome to the forum. :)

  4. I respect that answer, because I was reading and it said the same thing keep them together, so thanks!

keep them in the package they came it. much safer in them so they do not get dented or scratched.

Because if the coins are good enough they would be worth more that way. Whether or not yours are I don't know though

depends on the dates of these sets. some are not worth the price to get cracked out.
