hey guys, This is my first post in a while. I decided to make this thread bcuz I was looking around found a thread somewhere else talking about how canada stopped making cents. 2 things: how soon do you forsee the U.S. doing this? and second, a member on there said that the very FIRST add he saw selling canadien cents, at 2X fv, sold in 15 minutes. I have about $150 in U.S. cents and was thinking about selling them, but with that, I might just keep mine until the U.S. stops making cents, by then, I could have $1000 worth. Within a couple of month I could see copper cents going for 3X, 4X, 5X fv. a $5000 paycheck sounds awful nice. What do y'all thing?
Why would someone pay such premiums for something that is widely available in mintages of multiples of billions for multiple decades? There's probably literally more than 200 billion cents actively circulating in the US right now.
the add the one guy mentioned was for canadien cents, not U.S. after giving it a little thought, my guess if prices will go down between about 8-12 months from now and 7-10 years from now. so a positive longterm, but negative short term. If the canadien government starts buying them back, prices will likley go up sooner than I expect. I read somewhere that if the canadien government bought back all its cents at 1.5 cents/ea and melted them, they would make $150,000,000.
