Did anyone here receive this offer from Heritage? “The British Royal Mint is producing a series of gold and silver coins, to honor the day that the Mayflower first set sale. While the silver and half ounce gold coins will be available to the general public, Heritage Auctions, being an official distributor of the British Royal Mint, has acquired the exclusive rights to the entire mintage of 500 one ounce gold coins.” Initial offer, $2950 for PR69 and $3950 for PR70, with a low mintage of 500 are these expected to be in demand and a good investment?
I did get this offer. I am always a skeptic on items like this. If it was a US coin with that mintage it would be an easy flip, but then HA wouldn't be the outlet for it. Buy it if you like it but my thought is that you won't see a profit on it in your life time.
nope can care less to modern you can buy a nice double eagle for that much and it will never let you down in the long run
I like commemoratives and specialty coins as much as the next person, but I don't think a ship, even one as historic as The Mayflower, has that much appeal. Let me know what these start trading for in the secondary market.
Yep.. very intrigued as well, Mayflower sets sold out but, soft secondary to say the least.. however, this one has me considering it. Most likely due to my lack long term experience as I am sure others on here have much more knowledge and history under their belt.
