Howdy fellow coin peeps, I've noticed Heritage has improperly attributed a specific 1798 DBC twice in the past couple of weeks and I haven't seen the Cave Troll on in while so I figured I'd post it here and maybe he'll pop in, see it, and get to the bottom of the problem and figure out a solution to keep it from occurring again (more-or-less). http://coins.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=68101&Lot_No=61071 It's a 1798 S-187 and for some reason, they say it's a 1st hairstyle. :goof: How someone could make that mistake, is beyond me, so the only thing I can figure is whoever is labeling/listing these hasn't a clue what a 1st or 2nd hairstyle is, so Heritage needs to figure out how something as simple as a hairstyle can't manage to get listed properly. To improperly list a coin, such as this one, reflects badly upon the Auction House and I think Heritage is better than that . . . . at least, I hope they are? :kewl: Ribbit Ps: Cave Troll - Suggestion: you should have a "Report Error" link at the bottom of every auction page so peeps can report errors when they come across them. Let us work for/with you! We will gladly do it, if you will do something as simple as adding a link and providing us a reporting form/page. :thumb: Pps: Here's a 1798 S-161 that's listed at Heritage as a 1st hairstyle and it is a 1st hairstyle and anyone can compare the two and tell there's a difference. dd: http://coins.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=68101&Lot_No=61072 And here's a 1798 2nd hairstyle listed at Heritage as a 2nd hairstyle, so someone isn't paying attention at Heritage. http://coins.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=68101&Lot_No=61073
You would think a large auction house like Heritage would have the resources to have every major reference book , but sometimes it comes down to good ole human error , your idea is a great one Toad as it would give Heritage another line of defence for free , against mistakes . rzage:smile
Good catch. Due to the fluxuation in metals, I haven't been on the site for a couple of weeks. So I missed it too.
I'm still browsing the current auction and ran across this one: http://coins.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=68101&Lot_No=61076 It's listed as this: 1800 1C --Corroded, Scratched--NCS. Fine12 Details. What's interesting is it's a 1800 1st hairstyle, which means it's a 1800/1798 overdate (I believe it's a S-190), which makes it worth more. If Heritage had someone competent with coppers, they'd make more money for their clients and in turn, they'd make more money on the commission. :goof: So Heritage will continue to lose revenue as long as they continue to employee unknowledgeable peeps. The old saying - It takes money to make money - comes into play! Ribbit Ps: Hey Spock? Put in your resume with Heritage. They need someone who can tell the difference between a 1st & 2nd hairstyle and you can put me down for a reference.
I've used that link before and nothing happens so I stopped using it. Whoever gets those messages may not have a clue what to do with one saying there's an error with the description so it may get "lost" in the shuffle? Ribbit
Make up your mind. Is there no link or no one responds to the link. BTW, you can email Cave troll directly from this site or call/email him directly at wotk since his info is in the Heritage directory.
It's not me with the problem. Whoever those messages goes to is the one that decides what should happen with them and they are deciding not to do anything about what is being reported so Heritage has a problem, not me. If we are to use that to report listing errors, then Heritage needs to act on the reports it receives or risk alienating peeps, like they have done with me. :goof: I understand it sometimes takes a while to get items shipped out and I wait patiently for items I've won, even when it takes several weeks to get them but after reporting listing errors to them, using the link you talked about and nothing is done about the error, it's safe to assume that it's a waste of my time to report listing errors via that link, so I don't use that link to report listing errors any longer. It's stuff like this that I believe Cave Troll needs to be aware of and is why I posted this here. As to contacting him via the Directory, where the heck is the Directory? :kewl: I looked for it after you mentioned it and cannot find it, plus, I don't know his name. :goofer: Is he listed in the Directory as Cave Troll? Ribbit
edited I get Around sweet!!! And the point of posting that here was what ?, that people can have fun, Please stick to the topic of coins and fun. MY GOD NO FUN
i would work for them for free for one year if they let me buy coins for that year in tune to the business i have done with them in the last 12 months
You did not even look at the link, did you? You said that you did not know his name. Look at the link!
Toad - did you ever think that perhaps the reason they don;t respond to your reports of listing errors is because they don't think they are listing errors ? I'm not saying you are wrong or right either way, I'm just saying maybe they think you are wrong and that's why no corrections are made.
That's the problem, what if the person that lists those is the one that gets my error report? They made the error in the first place so who's to say they will listen? As to these, I am correct and I've even sent some to Tom Deck and even he said they get them wrong quite often, but do the right peeps at Heritage know that they are getting them wrong? The ones I've listed here are what I say they are, if I purely defined them, and I can continue to keep listing others just like them, so it's apparent to me that the peeps that need to know about this, don't, hence, this post. Now that I know Cave Troll's name, I will contact him to see if they care? Maybe they don't? I don't know but I would think they would. Ribbit
oh its an opportunity to make a killing go for it toad u will become richa nd famos and they might even employ u at heritage
I have a good job so I'm not interested. But I would like to help them out with attributing, if they want the help. Ribbit
Maybe someone should start buying the coins and the suing Heritage for selling Goods not as Described.
