Sorry Kudegras, couldn't resist. I think you did just fine with the "moderns". As for the other acquisitions, I'll defer to folks more knowledgeable.....

Seems nice, but what are the prices of these? None of us can really give accurate feedback on items purchased, if the purchase price is not known

Prices were indicated before OP edited.....

    Thanks ;)
Odds are I can find the prices of the coins myself, wanted to see if OP will post again though, if he doesn't want the price paid known, than I will just hold off on that.

    Before I answer...

What are the prices of the coins?

Do you have the ability to return (without any restocking fees) any/all of the coins if you don't like them in-hand?

why is this your order? mine would look something more like this:

    1-1895 MS-64 PCGS (G$20.00)
25-2009 1 oz Gold Buffalo Coins - **MS-70** PCGS (First Strike)

  17. Leadfoot

    Leadfoot there is no spoon

The above questions notwithstanding, IMO, you guys are buying expensive plastic.

My Apmex order would look something like this:

    13 1oz gold Krugerrands.
13 1oz Credit Suisse platinum bars.

The point being they are purchased close to spot, and they are just as or more liquid than any of the coins listed above.

But in the end it is up to each of us to decide what's right for us...Mike

Until I can see the ancients, I can't be certain. But I'm sure they can't be worth more than $3 each.

Get a Whitman folder for your Liberty V-Nickels

I don't know the value of the ancient coins so I cannot be much help. I do recall the moment I got interested in Liberty Nickels. I was at a coin shop in Connecticut and met this fellow collector that was going through a bucket of GD/VG Liberty Nickels filling some spots in his Whitman book. I took a batch & helped him look for a couple of the dates. Then it hit me. There were only P mint coins for the entire date run (except 1912). 1883 to 1912 is only like 30 coins. This is a set of cool nickels that I could probably complete and have a heck of a lot of fun doing it.

(Then I went a little crazy collecting Liberty Nickels but that's another story).

Did anyone else at CT notice the 1885 Liberty Nickel in MS66 for sale on David Lawrence tonight? I think that might be the holy grail of Liberty Nickels.
