So, I finally found a gorgeously toned 1877 for my set at the ANA in L.A. I just couldn't pass this one up, though it cut deep into my pocket book. But to me, it was worth it! And Todd's photo captures its beauty, that's for sure! What do ya'll think of my NEW FAVORITE coin?

Gorgeous color! It's like two different universes of color from obverse to reverse.
It's like chocolate and peanut butter... weird analogy, I know. But your coins are so captivating! Very very nice and well worth the wait today to see this.

I believe the difference in color from obverse and reverse is due to either album toning or some other type of storage where one side was exposed to sulfur paper (like in the old Wayte Raymond albums) and the other side was not.

    Very very nice!
I really like the looks of the 1877 in Teletrade Sunday - MS64RB but that is WAY to much for my budget. Maybe I'll land a better job and be able to get the next one!
That is the last key that I'm needing before I start on the more common coins!

I so wish that my wife liked coins!

    hmmmmmmm....

    now, there is a thought!

well, cooking is definitely NOT my strong point. As a matter of fact, I tell my boys that I set the bar pretty low for them when they go to pick a wife as far as cooking goes! So you might as well stick with what you have cause you gotta eat, but you don't gotta have pretty coins. Well, hmmm, I take that back - I do! ;)

I think you are blessed and Charmed Charmy.

Very, very, very nice looking IHC.

I love the contrasting color, the strike is strong but not quite hammered.

I like the RB designation as this coin truly has the best of both worlds and much more interesting to look at than most RD coins I have seen.

Amazing. Is that your second one? I thought you had another? Oh yeah, my wife is a riduculously good cook (could open a restaurant if she wanted), so won't trade her. She let's me buy coins. Live is good there. I buy coins from Charmy too, so I think I got it all, except don't have coins as nice as Charmy

Yes, but my other one (NGC MS63) will now be up for sale. Hopefully, I can sell it quickly so I won't have to eat ramen for too long!

Here's the 1877 that is being replaced by this new guy, so now I need to find a new home for him in order to help subsidize my new one!

If I had the dough or if this was in my series I would seriously consider your BN 1877. I really like the look just as much as I do your new RB one.

Having seen the coin in hand, I think Todd's photo has done a great job of showing the toning. Nice upgrade from your 63BN!

I also like the look of the 63 BN, it's very unique with gold overtones and some woodgrain. But to me, the toning on the 65RB is more appealing to me. I love when copper has some blue and purple undertones with maybe some gun metal gray.
