Here's a bu 1892-O dollar with what looks like a 8 or some other number under the 2 in the date. I researched this and found nothing pertaining to an over date on this coin. Anybody seen one before? Regards, Mike IMG_2612.jpg

Definitely looks like a repunched date. Not my specialty at all and not sure who’s left here of the vam specialists. So many got the boot or no longer post

If you're referring to the bottom of the base of the 2, it looks like there's a hit on the coin there.

How about a couple of full size photos.
Lets see the rest of the coin. Both obv and rev.
    Nice photo.

I also would like to see both sides of the entire coin. I’ve never seen anything like that on this coin.

I can't find anything either. Waiting for the big guns to chime in on this one, good luck.

The shape of what’s under the 2 is too well formed to be a die chip.

Hi, it looks like the bottom of a 2 or an 8 to me, I agree that it's not a hit from another coin as it continues up to about the center of the 2. Mike IMG_2658.jpg IMG_2659.jpg

Here's my 1892-O. As usual everyone else's is better than mine.

That 2 really looks like it’s overpunched over something

Is the mark clearly raised both below and above?

I think it might be a drop of clear glue.
