Here's a medal I ran into years ago and I'm not from Iowa but it's still a cool piece and it's gold filled. Depression year 1929! Anyone have one of these? Just sharing and showing off as usual.
It's cool, but you probably won't ever see another. All of the lettering is hand-engraved, likely before that Crash of 1929 even occurred. Chris
No idea about the medal, but I remember from Speech Club what a Declamatory speech is. Basically, you repeat a speech which was given in public. So, for example, I could recite the Gettysburg address as my entry into the Declamation.
I really appreciate the comments! I was wondering what Declamation meant, guess I should have used google but that's not as much fun!
In 1930 Dorothy Harmon was a 14 year old school girl living Kensett Township, Worth Co. Iowa. So 1929 could be the right year.
Amazing and appreciated! Dang, I wish she would have became famous like a movie star or a congress woman but that's ok. It's still a very cool piece to me.
