$1.00 Foreign Trade Payment Certificate P-Unlisted FTPC were used by businessmen in Japan during the US occupation after WWII. They are extremely scarce with less than 100 known in collections inclusive of all denominations. They also come in $.05, $.10, $.25, $.50 and $5.00 denominations. You can read about them in Schwan/Boling's World War II Remembered.
Someone carefully removed the staple holding the chit book together! The perforations are still intact!! Fantastic!! RickieB
That's some real history right there... any idea on the value of something like that? EDIT: Just found this on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/JAPAN-Foreign-Trade-Payment-Certificate-set-GEM-UNC_W0QQitemZ180159748150QQihZ008QQcategoryZ48027QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1638Q2em118Q2el1247 It would be interesting to see if he gets his asking price. Wait a sec, they have the same serial number as the OP... Are you selling these, lettow?
That is not my listing, it is David Seelye, an MPC dealer from upstate NY. FTPC were printed in booklets of $10.00 and $50.00. All notes in the same book have the same serial number. His notes and my notes came from the same book.
