One is the 1908 S and the other is a 1968.

Both of the coins appear to be VG-10 to me! All in all with the 1909-S that you posted about earlier, I have to say that you have a real nice collection of rare Indian Cents. If you decide to start an Indian Cent Collection with these three coins, then everything from this point is all downhill (meaning easier to find and cheaper) with the exception of the 1877! Don't tell me that you have that one as well because I may have to cry!

Unfortunetly not. That would have been too much if I was able to find one of those in the coins I was given. I do have about 30-35 other mostly from 1900-1907.

have you had the 08 and 09 S coins evaluated by a professional? The reason that I ask is that those two coins are very well know for having mintmarks fraudulently added to them. If you are new to coins, then it is possible that they are fakes and are well enough done to fool you.

    Possibility

I have not had them graded by a professional yet. There is a possibility that they are fake but I would really doubt it. These coins as well as 40 other indian head cents were given to me by my grandfather whose mother was the one who collected most of them. He had no idea there were these coins in the bunch and since he has had these coins in his possesion probably since the 1920's I would just find it unlikely for them to be fake. Thanks for the warning though.

I don't mean to be rude but I would say that is what most people would say and think----but I would think that there might be a larger chance that they are fake if they have been kept for years and not out on the market.
Since coin collectors haven't been able to view these coins since your family pulled them from change---they haven't had the chance to see if they are real or not.

A 1909-S is rare in any grade---I think it would be more of a chance that it is faked and not the 1908-S.
Post photos of the backs and maybe we can tell if they are real or not.

Most coin collectors are skeptic when it come to rare coins. If you were to put these coin up for sell, the first thing I would do is too authenate the coins. With the rarity of these coins the best thing to do is sent them to a grading company and have it graded then there would be no doubt. This will do two thing: one stop the questions that the cave troll and speedy ask and two it will protect the coins. Good Luck and I hope they are authentic.
