The reverse of this bronze coin has Hercules seated left on rocks. The obverse shows Marcus Aurelius with a counter mark on his neck. It represents the bust of Heracles right (Howgego 16). But the most interesting thing in that coin is the mint. It was struck at Abila, one of the rarest 10 cities (Decapolis) mentioned in the Bible. Moreover the coin is green toned. I already posted a coin from Abila, and surprisingly it has also Hercules, but standing and strangling the lion. That's why I named this thread Hercules of Abila. It weighs 9.37 g. Spijkerman 3. Feel free to post your coins of Hercules or Abila.
